After graduating high school Mickenlie attended college at the University of Montana Western and finished with a Bachelors in Integrative Biology. After graduating college Mickenlie moved back to the Magic Valley and married her husband Forrest Hurst. In high school she rodeoed for the 6th District and was extremely involved in FFA.
